Read more about the artist’s (yes artist) inspiration for the shoot and her work in her own words below:

I am Nemi Presca the Fashion Photographer. I started shooting as a result of the atmospheric inspiration I got from Kenya and after seeing Emmanuel Jambos monochrome portfolio. I became a fashion photographer because felt I could express my love for art, African culture/fashion through pictures, so I started off.

Viewing Kayobi clothing, I noticed a great amount of African culture and fashion in the colours so I was interested in being a part of the project and that was why I did the shoot. Also it was a way of interacting with a designer from another culture.

Since the tees from the clothing line were distinct in their way, my challenge during the preparation for the shoot was infusing African fashion pieces to the shoot without making it busy. So I went for the Ankara turbans (head gear) on the models, I wanted to have  the African feel.

I shot the images with the assistance of fellow photographer from London Ohi Bunmi Zion, he was in charge of the outdoor lighting during the shoot. I worked with two female models Ruth Johnson from Absolute models and Osen Ohiwerei a professional model in Nigeria.

The experience was brain tasking because I had to think of compositions which didn’t take attention off the “MAKE EBA NOT WAR” written on the shirt. During shoots I made sure the writtings were visible and models weren’t distracting. It was a lovely experience.
